There was a time.. I was everything and nothing all at once..

In career, I am currently nobody. But in life, I am pretty sure I am already somebody. I am a husband, and on my way to be the perfect one. And having Kinasih three days ago made me feel more than just being somebody… I am everything, I have everything.

My wife, Irma, always wanted to give birth normally. She took the pregnant exercise everyday during her last 2 months of pregnancy. On the day that Kinasih was born, Irma had already tried to give the normal birth. The process was started at 2 PM. She had a contraction and her fetal membrane (ketuban) had already broken. By observing her belly, all of the nurses and doctors predicted that the contraction must be very painful. It makes me realized that my wife is actually a very strong woman, since she always kept silent during the process. She made no sigh at all.

The contraction continued until 10 PM, when the obstetricians (they are actually Irma’s sister and father) discovered that there was no progress on the birth process. Due to the leakage of the fetal membrane liquid, they decided to give caesarean to Irma. The hospital team prepared the caesarean, and the caesarean began at 23.30.

For husbands (and husband to be), I do recommend you to accompany your wife during the birth process, no matter it is a normal or caesarean. It is where you can find how your wife gives her life for your happiness.

I didn’t think I am strong enough to see my wife during the caesarean. But I thought I had to. At least I had to capture the process, so that I can show it to my child one day. By doing so, I believe that my child will be more responsible to her life in the future.

I was hiding behind the back of my sister in law, so that I can filter my view. I saw the doctor (a colleague of Irma’s father) started to scratch the outer skin of her belly. When I thought I was already strong enough to see the process, I brought myself closer to my wife. But unfortunately, the worst part of the process happened just after it. After making a quite deep scratch to her belly, the doctor had to make the belly “opened”. So he pulled over the belly in two opposite directions. It seemed like it need a big power to make the belly opened, that the doctor pull the belly very strongly. I felt so pity for my wife, but at the same time I also realized that it had to be that way and it was not dangerous for her.

Just several minutes after that, I saw the doctor holding a green ball. I need several second to realize that it was the head of the baby. The fetal membrane liquid was a little bit green, so the baby was also looked green when it was first taken. After that a pediatrician take care the baby, and I gave an adzan to the baby.

About the name

We gave our baby name “Kinasih Naila Purnama”. We do believe that name is a wish. So here are the meanings of those words:

1. Kinasih, it is a javanese name, means “the loved one”. This is our wish, that she will be loved and treated well / nice by everyone. This also implies that she is Indonesian, that’s why she had an Indonesian name.
2. Naila, it is an Arabic name, means “like to give / generous”. This also our wish, that she will be a generous and helpful person; and will treat any other person well, better than people treated her. So the first word is about how we hope Kinasih will be treated by people (passive), and the second word is about how we wish Kinasih will treat people around her (active). This also implies that she is a Moslem, that she had an Arabic name.
3. Purnama, it is just a family name

So please do pray for Kinasih for all of her future; and also for Irma and I so that we can take care, teach and guide her well. Amin.
